ABOUT CAM'S COACHING
In
all circumstances, while challenging, testing, cajoling and supporting me, Cam
has demonstrated exceptional respect and empathy, but he is also not afraid to
confront me and more importantly, help me confront myself so that I can improve
my leadership behaviours.
As
a coach, Cam develops trust quickly. He is behavioural in his approach, so the
comments and feedback he provides are actionable. Cam seeks to understand, is an
exemplary listener and operates from a position of supporting shared goals and
processes. He uses a questioning, rather than a “telling” approach, encouraging
those he is working with to self-discover the solution.
You
have encouraged (okay, pushed) me to step out of my comfort zone and try things
I probably never would have tried if not for you challenging me. I have found
working with you both very challenging (in that you are always pushing me
further) and also very rewarding (in that I get the biggest payoff from those
things I think I can't do). Through this, I have discovered talents and
interests that I didn't know I had and also have been able to effectively apply
them. I now have a broader sense of my own skill set and more confidence to be
able to push boundaries in the future and be more effective.
Cam
helps me stop and think and he challenges me when I stray. He asks me excellent
questions that help me determine how I can achieve more. It’s hard work – he can
push you hard. Cam can also be calming when it is needed, which is a good
balance to the drive required to get things going. Cam has high integrity and I
feel I can trust him with my goals and personal struggles.
Cam
communicates with both passion and compassion. He is sincerely interested in
helping you achieve your goals and understands the pressures and issues of top
performers. He not only helps you identify the steps you will take to achieve
your objective but helps you establish support structures to further increase
your chances of success.
You
have taken me out of my comfort zone and put me into mindsets where I have been
forced to look at things from different perspectives. This has changed my
thinking about some of the challenges I have faced and has improved my results.
You pushed me hard, but appropriately.
I
was very uncomfortable with the initial feedback. It challenged some of my
beliefs about my own leadership style, which I thought had been reasonably
successful for me to date. Once I got over the initial discomfort, I began to
look forward to the feedback and finding more effective ways of leading the
team. The biggest paradigm shift for me was the realization that despite a
leadership style that has been very successful for me, I needed to enhance
certain areas of my leadership style to be successful.
